08:44 AM EDT, 07/21/2021 (MT Newswires) -- NFI Group Inc. (NFI.TO), an independent bus and coach manufacturer, on Wednesday said its subsidiary ARBOC Specialty Vehicles LLC secured a firm order from the Toronto Transit Commission for 110 seven-meter low-floor transit buses.

ARBOC plans to deliver the initial group of up to 30 buses in 2021, with the remaining 80 vehicles to follow next year, NFI said. The transportation agency plans to use the low-floor buses to support rejuvenation of its Wheel-Trans fleet, which provides accessible transport services to seniors and persons with disability.

The award follows a 2019 order to another NFI unit for up to 40 battery-electric buses to support the Toronto transport agency's electric bus program. Half of those ordered buses have already been delivered.

NFI's shares rose 3.4% on Tuesday.
