From IOC's "Sustainable Development Report" Page 34 "The majority of IOC emissions is from the Pellet Plant where a portion of the concentrate produced is converted to pellets via travelling grate furnaces. The pelletizing process also uses bentonite as a binding agent and fluxes are added to produce various pellet types.

2020 emissions from the Pellet Plant totalled 728 kt of CO2eq. (74% of IOC total).

The emissions are generated from furnace heating (combustion of fossil fuels)The combustion of fossil fuels represented 82% of IOC total GHG emissions.
