Acreage is like a ninjaquietly going about its business while drawing very little attention besides huge potential.
Canopy investors are unaware or choosing to ignore the fact that there is a deal inked between Canopy and Acreage for Acreage to be incorporated into Canopy when the US drops the criminality of the marijuana business at the Federal level.
That is to say that Acreage which is a leading Multi State Operator, loaded with grows, licenses, storefronts and packaging and processing capability in most of the important States is going to be the World's leading marijuana companies US division the minute that they can safely merge the two.
Chuck Schumer who is trying to launch the US greenrush stirred up some excitement with his latest effort but instead of happening immediately, which is what pot investors wanted, has clarified that next April would be a more likely time to get this done.
That isn't what the market wanted to hear as a lot of us feel that there is a lot of upside for successful, well financed marijuana companies.
That's right, kids, it's going to be controlled by the big and well financed and a lot of that success is contingent on the US getting on board to take criminal charges and seizure of assets and possible jailtime out of the equation.
The US has tried to launch some protectionist ideas that would give preference to US MSOs and players over foreign interests.
Canopy has struck a creative deal to launch in the US with Acreage when all of this gets sorted out and US voters want a greenrush. So far they have built some very successful cannabinoid companies by relying on a clause thrown out by the Feds that they will let indiividual States call the shots and enforcement laws.
Foreign companies with eyes on the biggest greenrush the world will see are proactively, angling their way in with deals like the Canopy Acreage deal and branding deals such that Acreage can market Canopy's brand names in the US because we are once-removed from touching the product which can cost you your stock listing on the NYSE and the TSE honoured that bullshyt idea, for now, until commonsense prevails and they realize that in Canada, pot is legal for adult rec and pharma use for patients.
At todays values for CGC and ACRG fixed shares about $10 worth of Acreage shares will convert for a $19 valued CGC in US dollars when the triggering effect is passed.
When the US deals with it, it will be a huge rush for pot investors who will be trying to pick the winners. I like Canopy/Acreage's chances.
