RE:RE:L 5 has leaked 29 times, spilling 4.5 million litres of oilEven if Whitmer is unsuccessful in getting Line 5 shutdown, the more she drags the saga out, the better it is for her.
The longer Line 5 continues to operate without any upgrades, the greater the chance of there being another leak. Wouldn't Whitmer just LOVE to stand there and say to the cameras "I TOLD YOU SO", while the issue is still being dragged thru the courts for 1/2 a dozen years like Line 3.
Personally, I think Enbridge should turn the taps off until a concrete decision has been made by the courts. They're asking for trouble continuing to operate Line 5 after Michigan has told them in no uncertain terms to shut it down. I'd wait till mid December to shut the Line 5 taps off, see how folks like freezing to death over Xmas....
