RE:RE:RE:CNQ - Q2 RESULTS - AMAZINGMost of the oil and gas sector companies are paying out dividends. If you are talking about " increasing " their current % amount ( ones who are already have a divy, that is ) ? Then yes, that may attract more investors. 

For VET...the previous % amount divy will NEVER return but.....they need to make it attractive for people to buy into it again. Currently, VET has no dividend and it's shares are struggling. Unlike us? Who would want to invest in that scenario? Not many, I would think. But, at some point, if things don't improve with the shares you own....then there comes a time when you have to cut ties. Can't chase good money for bad. Enough is enough. These shares, sadly, for the most part are controlled by day traders. Sucks~
