How to interpret this quarter’s earnings?

How to interpret this quarter’s earnings?

I'm trying to navigate through this labyrinth called ER and I don't think I fully understand what came out of it.

Although revenue took a big hit as well as EPS falling short of analysts' estimate, but the guidance was quite optimistic. We are on track to meet the upper end of the annual production guidance. More cash will be generated in the second half of 2021. We are on our way to accumulating 1B by year end.

Why so much negative sentiment?

What is holding this stock down?  Is it the issue with the Mali government?  As of now, the dispute is still ongoing and we do not know how long until the matter is resolved. The fact that BTO's biggest revenue generator is preponderant in a jurisdiction fraught with political unrest and turmoil has stirred some unsettling thoughts in my mind.

Gold-mining investing is not easy. No wonder many women choose the easier route of gold-digging. :-)
