LawnBoy - Bunker C pricing...
LawnBoy - Bunker C pricing...Bunker C may be priced in $/cubic meter. Using your example of 30 API gravity oil, this would have a specific gravity of 0.8762 (fresh water is 1.00 and weighs 1000 kg/M3). therefore, a cubic meter of 30 API oil weighs 876.2 KG (1000 kg/M3 x 0.8762. Similarly, a metric tonne of oil would contain 1.14 M3 (1000kg/m3 / 876.2). 1.14 M3 is equal to 7.17 barrels. If Bunker C costs 200/M3, then that would be equivelent to $ 27.89/barrel. Equivelent cost/barrel based on a cost of $200/metric tonne would be $27.83/barrel ($200per tonne x 876Kg per cubic meter x .1589 cubic meters per barrel.
As you can see, there is not much of a price difference whether it's priced in $/tonne or $/cubic meter.
Keep mind all of these numbers are based on a 30 API gravity oil. Buncker C probably has a lower API gravity, and would therefore be heavier.
