In August, it is expected that the community consultation for the El Escobal mining project will begin, in San Rafael Las Flores, Santa Rosa, after the preparatory phase, in which several agreements have been obtained, officials of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM)reported.
On 20 May, the ministry began the pre-consultation phase with the Xinka people at the headquarters of the Xinka People's Parliament. Before starting the consultation as such, it is planned to hold two more meetings and, although it is difficult to determine a deadline, the objective is to conclude the process this year, said the head of the MEM, Alberto Pimentel.
He added that at the second meeting, held on June 20, agreements were reached, among which is that parliament accepted the advisory group that will do the Cultural and Spiritual Impact Study of mining law in the Xinka people.
