RE:RE:OT: Why does the right-wing hate America? It is a big-azz double bind... a "catchaa twennttyy-twwwoooo" as Yosarrian said.

The main issue is not anything to do with Afganistan. The problem (for the world) is Pakistan. Pakistan should never have been 'allowed' (by force of not attacking them) to get nukes. The death cult, that is Islamic Fundamentalism, would love (by the grace of allah) to get control of some nukes by getting control of Pakistan. They WILL get nukes and they WILL use them to get rid of apostate nations when they get them. This is how the west needs to view it. The West will need to pre-emptively strike, yes 100's of millions will die a horrible, sickenening death but that is what is at stake... (Oh BTW, Afganistan has some great copper deposits for Ivanhoe to sew up.)

Question is (either Republicans or Democrats) : Do you want to change this 99% probable (risk / reward) future?

The US and the West refuse to address the fundamental issue....Islam.  Religion in the West always gets a pass from critique and thus barbaric insane religious ideologies are allowed to thrive. So long as the lunacy of religion continues to be off limits in public debate there will always be groups like the Taliban.  They really aren't any different than many US based fundamentalist religious cults and they exist to this day because you can't destroy perverted ideologies with bullets and bombs unless you're prepared to kill every single last one.  That's obviously impractical if not impossible. You kill ideas with better more rational ideas but the West refuses to ridicule and humiliate Bronze Age mythological superstitious religions into the dustbin of history where all the other gods of antiquity reside.
