there are typically four pillars to the economy… Construction, infrastructure, cars, and government spending. I was implying that the shortage of computer chips is causing the second largest car company to shut production down by 40% worldwide for the month of September.
My point is that Toyota is it just in time inventory manufacturer and they have a clear understanding of product flow. For them to shut in production indicates just how broken the supply chains are. That should concern us all your fault company start becoming an efficient at production because they can't get critical parts.
I know in our case it is getting more difficult to get both plastics, zinc, copper, electronic components. And our freight costs from China have gone from $2500 US per container to $25,000 US per container. And lead times four production in the case of electronics is now nine months to a year... Companies cannot survive if they have to wait nine months to produce their products.
