there are historical cycles but the times change like now, we are in unchartered waters, i try not to over think it and that could be my downfall eventually, i do know you couldn't pry my NFG shares outta my hands with a rattlesnake.
problem we face is our age, if we were 30 years old we would see things differently, at 60 or 70 years old we have to consider the near future return on our monies, safe haven low risk diversified portfolios are good but pay less, but if you wanna hit a home run ? what is your risk threshold and how much "time" have you got !
cheers.

The major central banks and bis do what they need to, unless there is run-away inflation as is the case in Argentina. It has happened in quite a few countries.
Paul Volcher, when he was chairman of the Fed, once state "we should have controlled gold better" when he was fighting inflation by raising interest rates to the moon, thus bringing down gold from it's then lofty heights. Now think about it. The entire banking industry was in on it, and they shorted the snot out of gold from I think it was the 1979 high.
Who do you think brought down the Hunt Brothers and the silver play? Yes, the banks. I spoke to Jim Sinclair about this and I know he was the one that got the Hunt Brothers out of that mess as an adviser. They were bankrupted by the game.
So I believe that if you know how to play the gold futures game and have that kind of money, follow the money and the bank indicators if you want to win. If you sit back and preach about gold going to the moon, unless we have hyperinflation, you will lose. These banks and central banks can PRINT THEIR OWN MONEY, no questions asked, no limit, and spoof the markets or buy and sell contracts at will. Yes, you can play the game if you follow their rules.
Cheers
