RE:RE:DM news that they sign two new service agreements for filmI am somewhat related to film, and while it's one of the most unpredictable businesses on the planet, this is what is generally going on:
- Features take two to four months to shoot.
- The crew size is usually between 100 and 150 ppl.
- On the US features and TV series, everyone is being tested at least twice a week, although some shows now do it 3 times a week. The testing requirement is not up to Canadians to regulate, but comes from south of the border, and the number of tests each crew member must take per week may change (go up) half way through the production.
So the number of tests administered per show could be somewhere between
9(tests per month) x 2(months) x 100(ppl) = 1800
and
14(tests per month) x 4(months) x 150(ppl) = 8400
The truth is that even the producers can't tell how many tests are needed until the very end, when all the rigging, preps, shooting and wraps are done.
So it's not surprising that DM is not giving any numbers.
