Reducing Risks with Non-Burning Devices
Reducing Risks with Non-Burning Devices Heat-not-burn (HNB) tobacco products are said to emit aerosols containing nicotine and other compounds that could be breathed via the mouth by users. They also contain non-tobacco additives, and are often flavoured. HNB tobacco products could mimic the behaviour of smoking conventional cigarettes, and some might also make use of specifically designed cigarettes to contain the tobacco for heating.
Some tobacco industry-funded studies have claimed that there could be significant reductions in the formation of and exposure to harmful and potentially harmful constituents relative to standard cigarettes. However, there might be no current evidence to suggest that reduced exposure to these chemicals could also translate to reduced risk in humans. Therefore, additional independent studies might be required to substantiate claims of reduced risk/harm. Check disclaimer on profile and landing page.
