"India's gasoline demand continued to surpass pre-Covid-19 levels in August as driving activity increased with the reopening of public places and offices, while diesel use continued to fall on the month."
"Gasoline demand rose by around 2pc on the month to 734,000 b/d from 717,000 b/d in July. The August demand was also up by 13pc and 5pc respectively from the same time last year and in 2019, provisional oil ministry data show. This is the second month that gasoline use has surpassed pre-pandemic levels."
"The figures were mostly in line with the demand data from state-controlled refiners, which account for around 90pc of India's fuel sales."
