Oilsands Share of World Emissions and Global Coal GenerationCanadian Oilsands emissions account for only 0.6% of global emissions. Canada as a whole, less than 2%.
It is impossible to live and survive in Canada without fossil fuels. Fact.
Canada's forests are living lungs for the planet, yet we get little or no credit for that.
Why are so many Canadians so brainwashed? Perhaps many will eventually get tired of waking up day after day in their cold houses being overcharged for fuel and utilities, and realize Canada is one of the few horses of the wagon team trying to pull the cart.
We burden ourselves with carbon taxes, and strangle ourselves economically by killing off our energy industry and other industries along with it, making us uncompetitive. We will buy our goods made cheaper in less burdened countries, and all the while thinking we are going to save the planet, but this won't happen. Asia is not playing along, and will account for even more emissions going forward. Arguably, they have more to lose from climate change than Canada does. Energy demand there is ever increasing as billions more people grow into the middle class. They can't afford new costly EVs and required infrastructure. Many cook with wood and charcoal as they can't even afford cooking gas.
Here's a good read on global coal fired electricity generation to wake some of us up. Know that there are still more asian coal plants planned and coming online in Asia than are being scrapped. They are very content to watch us do the heavy lifting, while they preach the move to clean energy. Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do.
