The Company operates in Cochise County, Arizona, and is focused on delivering pure copper cathode into the United States domestic supply chain. The Company’s projects include Gunnison Copper Project, the Johnson Camp Mine, and a portfolio of exploration projects, including the Peabody Sill and the Strong and Harris deposits, in Cochise County, Arizona. The Strong and Harris copper-zinc-silver deposit is located just 1.3 miles (2.4 kilometers) north of Gunnison Copper’s Johnson Camp SX-EW facility. The Gunnison Project which incorporates a large open pit of predominantly copper oxide mineralization approximately two kilometers south of Johnson Camp Mine (JCM). The Project is a copper cathode and is designed to produce around 167 million pounds of copper cathode annually.

I said in June they should have reopened Johnson Camp
I said back in June that they should have simply reopened Johnson Camp.  Now they have finally figured it out.  About time!

Now you are finally getting the irony.  If Excelsior had simply reopened Johnson Camp, they would be nicely profitable with the current price of [copper], and this stock would be flying.  Instead they decided to try this wonderful new in-situ mining technique on a different part of the deposit.  Of course, they did not do in-situ mining exactly on top of the old mine.  The mine was already dug.  They needed a nice, flat area where they could drill pipes into the ground.  
 
It seems the main purpose here was to sell investors on this great new mining technique.  So far, it has been an absolute failure.  Maybe they can make it work.  They are learning as they go.  It has been an expensive education.
