RE:hi Retiredgeo, l'il help ? Most ore veins dip into the earth at an angle. The footwall is what a miner stands on and the hanging wall is what the lantern dangles from. Neither term applies to plate tectronics. They are very old terms from antiquity.
The Keates zone is a network of parallel ore veins dipping at ~45 degrees. Every intersection in the press release is an ore vein. Some are richer than others. The "core dilation zone" is the thickest and richest of them all. They found a strongly mineralized ore vein above the others (in the hanging wall) which they didn't know existed, thus, the discovery.
