RE:RE:RE:RE:Mike's Presentation That is very good observation. Canadians are slowly willing to pay for value added services but generally they have been led to believe healthcare is or should be free. That is only true if you never pay any taxes in Canada.
The telehealth model in Canada is you can wait two years and possibly die from a condition waiting to see a specialist or pay a small fee and have an immediate assessment of your condition.The belief is people will pay the small fee for piece of mind. This seems reasonable and if people wish to wait they have that option. In a lot of markets once you can prove the early assessments save the system money the private insurers step in and cover the fee. The Health Spending Account in a good insurance plan is an example of this and I am sure MedX is working on that.
In the Netherlands the service is covered under their National Insurance Plan. That is a model that can be adopted in many jurisdictions and why the numbers today were important. 200 potential melanomas detected in the Netherlands already. That is a great start.
