RE:WI-LAN INC. v. APPLE CANADA INC. ET AL If there was a settlement, it would be a global license from Apple. Like was done with Interdigital. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2016/12/15/898010/24691/en/InterDigital-Announces-Patent-License-Agreement-With-Apple.html
And a reminder to all of you that Apple has in the past settled with patent entities.
Pursuing multiple venues globally was the same playbook from Interdigital, though interdigital used the ITC court very effectively
This is a worldwide OFDM patent from the nextwave acquisition. The patent expires in 2027. Reminder of how deep Wi-Lan's wireless portfolio is.
And, again, this is all FREE. On a sum of the parts basis the market values WiLan as worthless.
A successful resolution with Apple is multiplicative. It sets the licensing rate for the 4G wireless portfolio of which there should be a BILLION in total licensing fees from the remaining handset makers.
And this is all FREE. Incredible.
