SIR has concept restaurant brands, including Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill, Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar, and Canyon Creek Chop House, signature restaurant brands, such as Reds Wine Tavern, Reds Midtown Tavern, Reds Square One, and The Loose Moose, which are used by SIR under a license agreement with SIR Royalty Limited Partnership (the Partnership. The Fund receives distribution income from its investment in the Partnership and interest income from the SIR Loan. The Fund indirectly participates in the revenues generated under the License and Royalty Agreement through its Investment in the Partnership.

Firstly, with all due respect, I'm very surprised that this is even a conversation, this is dividends101 for basic investors. 

We are talking about a 1 or 2 day difference in when the units could have been sold to still capture the dividend. That can be very significant. On the other side, if the majority of the available float (those not held by the big players who are long and hold) is held and being traded by investors that do not properly understand how the dates work, your analysis may in fact be correct, even though technically incorrect.
