Green Guilt Bond Statement from an article in the economist.
Britain’s first environmental-focused government bond sale attracted record demand with more than £100bn ($137bn) in bids. The Treasury raised £10bn from the “green gilt” maturing in July 2033—more than the record offering of €8.5bn ($10.3bn) set by Italy in March. Proceeds from the sale will go on environmental spending, like zero-emissions buses and schemes to decarbonise homes and buildings.
