For an investor, the real question is does a company make money or not. I for one really fail to see why Suncor should be disadvantaged against any other oil producer. The downstream is marketed under the PetroCanada brand and their main competitor is Esso who is also involved in the Oil Sands. So why is Suncor undervalued versus other Canadian Producers ? Or is it ?
Personally I feel that the share price does not adequately reflect the revival of the downstream.
The upstream valuations will improve only after the fanatacism regarding global warming dies down. That fanaticism will die down this winter as energy shortages world wide become increaingly evident. International shortages are growing as we speak . Even in shoulder season.
Here in Ontario the optometrists are on strike against medicare. Perhaps once that is resolved we can get a new prescription for our myopic politicians and the Fund sector that has been terrorized by them
