DJ Lion Electric to Benefit from Production Capabilities in Canada, US -- Market Talk 0834 ET - Lion Electric should see better margins, supply chain flexibility and lower costs with production on both sides of the Canada-US border, National Bank of Canada says. Lion Electric's production facility in Illinois is set to build 20,000 vehicles a year starting in the second half of 2022 and the company is also building a battery module plant in Quebec, supported by C$100 million in government funding. "With production capacity on both sides of the border, it can meet buy-Canadian and buy-American rules," the investment bank says, adding that with growing production capacity, rising sales and a decline in component costs, Lion Electric will should be able to meet targets of 50% reduction in vehicle costs as well.
