RE:RE:BTE shareholder return plan "trailed" other cosThere's not much I can add after reading relax's post , you seem to have nailed my viewpoint as well . I like Nuttall's appearances on MC but I do believe sometimes he overthinks things and outsmarts himself . Eric is always looking for greener pastures but sometimes you are standing in the greenest pasture and don't realize it .
BTE is being very smart with an abundant FCF by rapidly paying down debt but Clearwater remains the real driver for this stock . Thursday will mark the end of another surplus Q and the last of the 2021 hedges expire in 90 days . Lots of anticipated news coming over the next 6 weeks which will set up for a solid winter season . Within a year from today , this stock could easily be trading around the $10 level as the Clearwater field starts to contribute to FCF and EV .
Drilling activity remains subdued which means no massive production boast is on anyone's horizon and once air travel fully return to normal , demand will continue to chew through inventory all supportive of price . Q3 results will set another high water mark for BTE
As for the Suncor flip-flop , I will admit thinking about this one myself . SU has been beaten into the dirt for 18 months now , over that time they have retired around 100 million shares in share buybacks . One morning you will wake up to a headline like "SU reinstates former dividend" or the dividend is increased above that level and that day the S/P will jump $10 .
