Under normal market conditions, capital would flow freely between corporations of similar quality, size, sector, region etc. In the case of GC being acquired, I had expected more money to move into Gamehost as those who owned Great Canadian Gaming looked to continue their exposure to the entertainment sector. Gamehost shares should have rallied a little on the takeover news and pushed a better valuation for the business. With Liberal funded media focused on promoting pandemic hysteria, I suspect that fear created by daily new blasts has reduced the appetite for risk amongst investors especially those considering ownership of entertainment companies.
Gamehost has been in the shadows of low oil prices since 2015 but the fundamentals for energy have clearly turned the corner. $70wti supported by growing demand and stagnant supply. We are really setting up for years of higher oil and natural gas prices which I believe is a catalyst for Alberta's economy and a period where Gamehost could thrive. Money has shied away from Alberta because media has been boasting of "the end of oil" when really we have been sleepwalking into oil shortages.
A sign of things to come? No respect for ethical fossil fuels supplied by Alberta to rest of the world? You tease the tiger long enough, eventually you get mauled.
Video says it all. If you over-invest in renewables and shut down your baseload power suppliers fueled by natural gas or coal, you are at risk of shortages every time the wind stops blowing or the sun ain't shining. A lesson for the rest of the world. Renewables can only provide a fraction of the power required by modern society.
