I'm shocked more people are not discussing the growing political risks that are deteriorating in Mali...I would be open to some health discussion and opinions from fellow shareholders...with Mali's recent public statement re the Wagner group (Russia's plausibly deniable extention of state) entering Mali at ten million a month, this action is clearly showing the gov't's intention of holding onto power and creating an entrenchment of military rule in Mali. This should be extremely concerning to everyone. If Russia comes in...France and other EU, US forces will leave guaranteed...I realize it's more compicated than that, and much of this rhetoric could simply be 1) forcing France and others to retain the recently announced troop withdrawl, and 2) which is more likely...putting pressure on France, EU and other African state coallision to relax and reverse the current deal re a 'transition to civilian rule' .... I do think this is the most likely conversation behind closed doors...the military government in place at the moment wants to stay there and not relinquish it's power...so how do they get there? either with France, EU and other's support, ie back re civilian transition of power and let us give it go...or forget them, and open the door to Russia, bring in a new supportive partner and rule through military rule. Mali is at a very dangerous inflection point I think...there is way more political risk right now than anyone is talking about. So the big question is what does mining looking like in a military controlled country supported by Russian interests...no rule law, no civilian oversight, no respect for process, contracts, etc....if we all think it's bad now, omg you can't even imagine what it will be like with zero cheques and balances...wagner will do what they do with all unstable and chaotic countries they enter with natural resources...they will obtain mining rights, permits etc......how many of those will they take from already existing companies like B2 operating there? who will stop them? they will be appointed into mainstream Mali politics and govt...they have done it before in Syria, Lybia, and other african states...they will have no one to appose them...they can do what they like and spin it any way they want...I realize we are not there yet but if this turns out not to be a bluff by the mali gov't wholly @##@$ all bets are off...and as soon as the market factors this in, all mining companies operating in Mali will have no idea what will be instore...new mining laws? taxes? royalties? total nationalisation? There will be so much uncertainty the market will just run for the exit...wagner group has zero intentions of restoring peace and stability ...they are there to exert Russian influence and get rich. The current defence minister and the president were both actually trained in Russia and one of them just got back from Russia a week ago...there is definitely a connection there, how far that goes and what will happen who knows. The risk is huge though and no one seems to be talkin about that. Forget permits, exploration, grades, cash flow, dividends etc...the elephant in the room, and he's a big one, is return to military rule and international isolation. gook luck!
