@cargo's posts from ceo.ca regarding DROSRITE for context). Michel was the recipient of the Prix Lionel-Boulet award in 2016 (Catgorie : Scientifique). Here is Michel's write up for this award:
https://prixduquebec.gouv.qc.ca/prix-qc/desclaureat.php?noLaureat=510 It's in French, so you'll have to use Google translate (or similar). Pay attention to these paragraphs (translated)
involving both Scepter Aluminum Company and DROSRITE:
"The metallurgical sector also benefits from its innovative outlook.
The engineer has spent years improving the upgrading of aluminum scum. In order to recover the metal from these factory by-products, they had to be heated in gas or oil ovens, adding environmentally harmful melting salts. How about using an air plasma torch instead? In 1987, he participated in the development of the process, which was implemented by Alcan in a factory in Chicoutimi, then sold to the Scepter Aluminum Company."
And: "In 1995, the inventor decided to quit his job to exploit his DROSCAR aluminum scum processing technology. Unfortunately, the license escapes him. But one December morning, he sensed a new idea germinating:
it will provide the energy required for the casting of the metal by burning part of the process residue. The DROSRITE technology was patented two years later."
There is also considerable information on Michel's work in the 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing sector (from the link above).
Interesting to note the connection between Michel and Scepter and his work on the DROSRITE system.
Long and Strong in PyroGenesis!
