A SIMPLE ANALOGY So a couple of years ago, the Clowns (Plant, WTN, Homestench and OptRed) plan a trip down to to the Carribean for themselves and their wives. (Well, for OptRed, that would be his blowup doll, but you get the idea). The trip booking is for several years ahead, and is now coming up soon.
Back when they booked, they were all SO excited! "Nothing but sunshine ladies! This is going to be awesome!" The wives were so excited.
But as the time came closer over the past few months, things changed. Covid came in, flights were cancelled, countries enforced restrictions for travel. It was not looking good and the wives were getting nervous about going. "Nothing but sunshine ladies! You heard us say it a few years ago and we meant it! " It was like the Clowns just wanted to stick to their original narrative, and avoid any discussion of the vastly changed landscape.
With the trip only a week away now the wives were nervous, but now also paying attention to the weather forecasts. Well as bad luck would have it, there was a hurricane scheduled to hit their island paradise the day after they were to arrive! "Nothing but sunshine ladies", the Clowns said with even more conviction. "We told you this two years ago, and we're sticking to it!" The wives couldn't believe their ears. The hurricane was obvious, and their husbands just wanted to pretend it was nothing?
So off the the island they went, and sure enough, the Hurricane hit with devastating force. The Clown husbands were diistraught, but still they tried to say "Nothing but sunshine ladies! Just close your eyes, plug your ears and get to higher ground. There, see! Isn't this the best trip ever??!!
The wives new the truth. They could see what was obvious, where their husbands just tried carrying on blind to the obvious things that were now running their trip. "My husband is an IDIOT", one of the wives said. All the other wives agreed that their husbands were idiots too. "Can they not see what is right in front of them? Are they that blind? And why would they be committed to something from 2 years ago, which sounded good at the time, but is now clearly irrelevant and clearly a mess."
They all shook their heads in disbelief.
