Between the MM, Dark Pools, HFT and illegal naked shorting, we are getting run over all the time. 

No matter how you slice it, the MM is out to make money first and foremost for himself, not us. He wants to create volume to create spread profit and trading fees. Conflicts everywhere.

However, without the MM to moderate, some illiquid stocks would be whipsawed mercilessly by Brokers with enough capital. 

None of this is in the spirit of honest buying and selling.
