RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Proposed BC Royalty Changes

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Proposed BC Royalty ChangesIn Alberta, Ed Stelmach who was a pro-business politician, had to walk back his ~20% increase in royalties which failed as $$ fled to other jurisdictions. By 2010 Stelmach had walked everything back to about where it was in 2007. Notley, with the NDP, said she'd do better and then walked royalties back even further in order to remain competitive.

What bothers me most about this BC proposal is that it wasn't anythimg the NDP ran on. No party talked about doing anything like this and this news dropped on Friday October 8th on a long weekend. This is usually what happens when the government wants to do a quarterback goal line sneak. It's possible this is just a trial balloon and the BC producers have a strategy that will talk sense into these people and I hope this is the case.

Nevertheless I live in BC and I have seen what the deranged left wing of the party has done to the forest industry. I have friends in the forest industry and they are aghast at the utter lack of common sense by the government and their protestor loons. I'm associating the protestors with the government since the NDP has shown zero interest in enforcing the law and seems happy when protestors run amok. Anyway I am hoping this is nothing.
