Modoki La Nina temps have now hit -5 , that is the threshold.
The jet streams are moving in a more pronouced noth and south swing.
That is what is needed for Polar air to spill south into NA and Asia/Erope. The warm air along with high pressure air must swing north to make the polar vortex spill south.
The high pressure models are forming in the correct manner for a cold winter. The south pole had the coldest temps on record and the ice cap is increasing there at a rapid pace.
The modles I see point to a cooling winter trend over the next 15 to 20 years along with hot summers.
It's a long complex story but it may play out that nature is much more powerful than mans (man made global wrming). That's not to say we should clean up our air world wide.
This 15 to 20 year prediction that is a cycle that has been written about and repeated for 1000's of years
. This whole cycle suggests more volatile weather in general which is talked about all the time but blamed on mankind.
Of course it could be wrong this time but I'l be watching it closely. I hope,. HA!
