Yep, simply a waiting game for enough data that would support a BTD...just 3 more patients is the goal/hope. I'm just as eagerly awaiting news on the vaccine front. This could be an even bigger news event. However, my guess is such news will likely take significantly longer to come by. I'd expect a more extended timeline if they are in the process of developing a better, more novel vaccine adjuvant. The goal is to not only stimulate a maximal immune response, whether it be against a type of infection or cancer, but to also activate a "better" response compared to the strong competition. Development of a novel & superior vaccine/adjuvant can be a slooow process, but ultimately worth it if successful & done with the right partner (which we have in LKSKI imo) & within budget.
A selfish scientific aside...would be interesting to see the new lab investigate the use of mesoporous silicon nanoparticles as vaccine adjuvants...the larger-pore nanoparticles have shown some promise preclinically in boosting the immune response against some bad actors via the ability to present a higher concentration of antigen for a longer period of time right where it counts...as has recently been demonstrated in a GBM tumor model.
