RE:RE:RE:Big boys shaking the tree The bigger issue facing us is sentiment which remains still in the negative. The ones flying are the early adopters, risk takers and fearless. But, the majority are still anxious.
Yesterday I received an Aeroplan eblast on a new travel testing option for enhanced convenience while travelling. Since AC and CHR are tied to the hip, it's important to look at the restrictions facing AC and not just CHR. This new test is a
"selfadministered COVID19 test that you can complete from the comfort of your home or from your accommodation around the world".
It's a big step forward for sure as we learn to live with Covid. This means less time running around looking for a testing site. But, again I stress Canada has one of the most strict entry requirements even for fully vax'd Canadians. So, while we can fly to the US with only a rapid antigen test or Spain where no test requirement is needed at all, before coming back to Canada though, in order to board the flight, we must all pass a PCR test. What the eblast leaves out and most government sites is what happens when you do not pass the PCR test.
Well, I can tell you because again I had it happen to 2 fully vax'd friends who were in the US. Quite simply, they were stranded in a hotel for 14 days. So, if you have the flexibility to stay longer in your destination, then travelling is fine for those folks. But, for the majority who don't have that luxury, flying is not an option right now until Canada drops the highly restrictive PCR entry test requirement.
