RE:Stacked @Dirk

RE:Stacked @DirkWell I could respond with some esoteric stuff about quantum states but to be clear I really do think that geology, geophysics must be more challenging than quantum physics.

You've got layers upon layers of stuff deposited over hundreds of millions of years that has been faulted, eroded, deposited upon again until you end up with a giant puzzle of superposed results of events that occured over hundreds of millions of years.

I read that during the Cretaceous sea levels were 80 meters higher than they are now because all of the glaciers had melted because of global warming. Thus only certain types of adaptations could survive those temperatures. They're also superposed in the rock as fossils. And only experts would know Campanian, from Santonian, from Turonian from the fossil record which is why I get a chuckle when I read that some rig hand is going to leak geological information.

Hats off to all the earth scientists out there. You've got a real challenge with this geology so I've read. They've known for over 200 years that there's oil there from the numerous oil seeps detected on the water by fishermen in their doreys. Over 40 wells were drilled with no success until Liza. Now Apache and soon CGX we hope. But yeah, Repsol was targeting the Turonian on Jaguar 1. High pressure stopped them from getting there. I wonder what's in it. I wonder if it is feeding upper zones through faults. I love this earth science stuff. Should have learned more about it years ago.
