RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Why I hold RecafHey BP, where did you find this seismic "interpretation"? This is wrong on so many levels! High amplitude seismic events do not "scream hydrocarbons"! Seismic reflector amplitudes are purely a function of rock sonic and density differences. We already know there is a mixture of carbonate and clastic layers in the first 2 wells, that should generate high amplitude seismic events without any indication of reservoir fluids (if any).
The only direct seismic indicator of hydrocarbons is an amplitude versus offset (AVO) anomaly, which is usually the result of highly porous sandstone reservoir saturated with gas. There is no direct oil indicator.
Don't take seismic interpretation advice from non-geophysicists. I don't know where this geofantasy illustration came from but it wasn't a geophysicist.
