RE:In case anyone doubts the importance...Twoponds, there is a big article in the Chronicle Herald newspaper today (Nova Scotia) about the Windsor Salt mine in Pugwash and the strike and how Windsor Salt is planning on handling their salt contract for Nova Scotia and PEI during this winter. It doesn't have much bearing on SALT this year but it does speak loudly to the valuable resource at SALT and vulerablity of the supply of salt to the North American markets.
The Windsor Salt Mine currently operates two locations in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The first is the Ojibway Mine at 200 Morton Drive in Windsor, established in 1955, and is owned by The Canadian Salt Company, Limited. The facility has 250 employees, earns roughly $75–99 million a year, producing road and mining salt.
250 employees and earns almost $100 M per year.
