RE:RE:In case anyone doubts the importance...Yes "lifegoeson", they were and still are Compass's competitor. The Windsor, Ontario mine is processing product at the 1000' level of the Michigan Basin at that location. The thickness of that ore body is approximately half of what Goderich mines at the 1750' level...Goderich's orebody that expands endlessly from Cleveland, Ohio to almost the Bruce Peninsula northerly to Saginaw, Michigan area westerly..roughly. Google the Michigan Basin/salt and you'll see how expansive it is. They are also limited in their range of mining as all of their mining does not extend under the Great Lakes but under a heavily populated area under the Detroit/Windsor/Lake St. Clair area. During my tenure at Compass Minerals, Windsor Salt was the only region's competitor locally, but Sifto has an excellent port in Goderich and is able to ship anywhere in the Great Lakes area including Cleveland and Chicago depots and beyond. Compass/Sifto Goderich had a great opportunity to capitalize on the market when the Retsof, New York mine flooded in 1994, and Sifto capitalized on it, you can Google/Wiki that too for reference if you wish. In the end, the shipping costs to supply the Eastern seaboard imho Atlas will, and I assure you will, have that distinct advantage, especially when the supply is short and the ocean port Alas is in very close proximity to has at their disposal...being a start-up or not. Hold for gold, white gold folks...the party is just getting started.
