RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Single-radio 802.11 Breeds vs. Multi-radio 802.11 Breeds Yep, I've talked to a few ex Engimers. If you don't no where something comes from you can't determine where it's going. Clearly my convos delivered some good intelligence.
As for your ridiculous statement, both companies are in the wifi space. Until recently Yfi was firmly planted in the hardware space, but they had zero chance of being in the device sales biz kwhich is why they are now so focused on the IP biz.
For Yfi to make a dent in the ISP market they have to convince someone that their chip is a better alternative to the mesh offerings that now own the market. Fact is they can't. It's not unlike why the big server makers like lost their market dominance in the server farms. Why pay huge prices for proprietary hardware when you can buy tons of gerenric boxes that outperform at far lower prices. Then there's the issue of how yfi could even get into the market. They have zero chance of building and selling their own mesh solution, which includes massive spending to build the cloud infrastructure. And if you think they are going to displace someone else in any of the current mesh offerings good luck. Forget how hard a vendor would fight to keep those chip sales. The big issues in the ISP biz is the router and pods have to work together and if Yfi wants to be in the router who is in the pods?
So think what you want Yfi is in the same biz as Plume. You just don't understand connected markets.
