PFAS contracts ...

PFAS contracts ...

- 2 PFAS contracts from the same State (Massachusetts) of the one we just won (Easton, Massachusetts.)

In May of 2021, Town Meeting approved capital funding of $9.2 million for the final design and construction of PFAS treatment filter plants.  The funds for these treatment plants will have an impact on future water rates, which will be increased by the Water Commissioners/Select Board to fund the construction of the PFAS treatment plants.

It is expected that the Water Division will complete the design and construction of these PFAS treatment plants in approximately 18 months.

If Easton is a large public water system operator, by looking at this map, we'll have huge amount of contracts then, as to me, Easton is a very tiny location.

By the way, one posted this other PFAS reality this morning:

There are 4300 public water utilities in the US.

PFAS is gonna be a huge market for PYR ...

PFAS are found in the blood of 97% of Americans

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) has indicated that PFAS are found in the blood of 97% of Americans.

We are extremely proud to have been selected, in a highly competitive bidding process, to provide our proprietary plasma-based environmental solution to this significant problem facing the world

PFAS – The Next Wastewater Utility Challenge?

The Regulatory Environment

In February 2019, the USEPA announced a Comprehensive PFAS Action Plan

Market size:

U.S. water utilities to spend $3 billion on PFAS reduction by 2030

June 2020

While there is currently no enforceable federal limit on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in U.S. drinking water, individual states are moving forward with varying approaches to identification, monitoring, and control measures that are forecasted to cost water and wastewater utilities more than $3 billion by 2030 to address associated health risks, a new report has found.

What’s next for addressing PFAS regulations and treatment?

PFAS regulations have become one of the biggest topics in water treatment today.

Reports Show Widespread PFAS Contamination of Ground and Surface Water in Massachusetts

October 18, 2021

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has been conducting exploratory testing and is now requiring testing for PFAS in public drinking water systems. Since 2016, 591 systems in 259 municipalities had their results published so far. 75 systems in 56 communities have exceeded the Massachusetts quality limits for six regulated PFAS compounds (PFAS6) in drinking water of 20 ppt. These systems have taken or will take action to bring them into immediate and long-term compliance. The state tests currently for a total of 18 PFAS chemicals.

The Massachusetts Sierra Club prepared a small study of the full data set that expands upon the DEP screening to cover all measurements for all tested chemicals. This study shows how widespread PFAS contamination is throughout the Commonwealth in the ground water and surface water used for drinking. To date, 87% of the 259 communities have detectable levels of up to 13 different PFAS chemicals in their water sources. Many have levels much higher than 20 ppt for PFAS6. This scientific information will help provide a basis for protecting the public by preventing further contamination through further research, legislation, and additional regulation by state agencies.

Note: This does not represent current finished drinking water quality, and so does not indicate the population that has been or may be directly exposed to any contaminated water and any associated health risks.
