RE:Schumer Wants To Keep ‘Big Boys’ Out Of Marijuana IndustryFor safety, you need the big boys, because they are the ones that are less likely to "save a bad crop" by tweaking it up with pesticides or fentanyl. They are also the ones doing the lobbying to help law and policy makers get it right and fair for potpreneurs by comparison to Beverage Alcohol.
Big Alcohol and politicians have been in bed together for a long time, greasin' each others hands which can be translated to politicians giving full support to alcohol which is a devastating vice that has caused a ton of pain and misfortune for those affected by it.
The Big boys, LPs and MSOs will be the well equiped force to wrestle cannabinoids from the cartels and gangs, but mostly help to insure safe, inspected and consistent predictability for consumers.
There will be room for some boutique style potpreneurs with special strains just like there are premium scotchs available at a price.
Sounds like Schumer is doing a very political thing, which is keep the process going. Finishing a task completely is like a lawyer winning your case, the billable hours stop as does the need for a politician. Always want a way out and holding back on the banking is most unfair to potpreneurs and bankers and brokers who want to provide their services to the new vice, the same way they have to alcohol and tobacco over the years.
The difficulty for investors because of lack of banking and brokering has put a big cloud over this investment, not for all though, as some brave investors are piling in one way or the other despite the lack of banking and brokering.
Probably doing wire transfers through Canadian brokers and bankers where having a public listing for pot companies is 100% legal. I'm surprised the protectionist faction of American business has put up with the Canadians getting all of those commissions.
I know there is fear from MSOs of Canadian LPs putting down roots on US soil, afterall we have had a little headstart on legal although there are several US MSOs that have weighed it out and want first strike advantage over the other US pot hopefuls that aren't willing to take the risk of jumping the que.
US voters want Federally legal marijuana and Interstate commerce such that it allows one State's products to be transferred to other States, and they want banking, because it is the right thing to do.
Schumer needs to bring it all home and launch the US greenrush properly and fairly, at least to the same rules as Beverage Alcohol.
Bring it on Schumer. You have a chance to incorporate a well written bill, without prejudice to pot and hemp hopefuls that will work for everybody.
