RE:The Prime Minister has cobalt on his mind. Canada needs to do what Canada can do and does best and once and for all exploit our resources first ...especially with the change that is coming to the world and more so to the USA. This is pure mining and financial security and opportunity yes we have an auto manufacturing abilities but our mining potential is where the opportunity sits. Anyone thinking that the USA does not know this ?
can you imagine what the Germans, French, or Brits ( let alone the USA) would be doing if they had what we have? Can we imagine like with oil, the amount of money that could be flowing into our coffers from "all" areas of the country, and not just from a province such as Alberta? ( highly publicized federal transfers). Ask Norway etc and or Alaskans on what and how they did.
the best the feds can do is help out FCC with 10 million bucks and then pump hundreds of millions in to the auto sector ( with little hope of a return) ? What's wrong with us ? What are are our government bureaucrats afraid of in this country? Are we thinking that electrification of the world is not going to happen and are hesitant?
our government's at all levels should be partnering with the private sector now and taking a piece of the action and provide initial support and get things rolling now and bail later if they want ...it's still young for us but others like Australia and Indonesia are forging ahead.
new oil so to speak ? Literally could be flowing from all areas of the country if we make some commitments now. Sooner or later we will be paying for the hundreds of billions spent on Covid, which seemed to come out of nowhere, and we best be thinking now on how we are going to do that and look good at the same time, it could happen with mining.
Nickel, lithium and cobalt and ten others in the BMs and Cms category and are in abundance in Canada, from the north and from east to west and we should be a major supply player in the world on all these fronts, but our leadership seems to concerned about some auto parts.
FT and a few others are immediate targets that should be focused on along with a plan to advance others ...looks to me like we left the USA with our tail between our legs instead of a feather in our cap....if our so called friends south don't like what we have to offer there will be no shortage of others who will, we just need to get serious about it and rally behind the projects that will play a roll in GHG reductions.
stay long, the FT story is not over.
