If a patent sale agreement is signed on Nov 30, with the same effective date, it will "settle" right then and there, and it will impact Q3. The cash may still take a few days to change hands, but it is a done deal on signing. It will show as a "receiveable" on the balance sheet until the cash is collected.
There is no general T+ rule for legal/ contractual agreements.
