There is one possibility that would make sense, but that I sincerely hope isn't the case.

Everyone knows that takeover bids involve offering a premium to the prevailing stock price.
In Xebec's case, it would have to be a big one.

If I was a company eyeing taking a run at Xebec, wouldn't it be better to put some pressure on the stock first? It would be easy enough in this illiquid canadian market. Xebec doesn't trade millions of shares a day.

It would make sense to lose a point on a 10 million share short position only to turn around and save a point on a bid for 154 million shares.




Why would you be worried if a takeover bid implies us getting a premium ?
