RE:RE:EU Nuclear power shutdownsTend to agree that Zerohedge likes to overstate problems, though in energy markets, the elasticity of price and supply is high.
According to Wikipedia, nuclear provided about 13 percent total of energy. About 37 percent is renewable, They will have to spend more for hydrocarbons though.
I think the market is kind of hooped for a while in Europe and they could see electricity costs remain double. Guys like GC and Trifiguera would have hedged some of the electricity for 2020 and maybe rolling into 2021, but without price breaks, I don't think they will be competitive.
The whole rapid phase out of nuclear was a knee jerk reaction IMHO. Belgium, which is a very high nuclear power producer is also trying to phase this out.
Europe electricity is looking expensive.
