RE:Am I happy with the 3% dividend increase?Great post and good questions. Maybe they're just hedging their bets as COVID drags on. They probably are also painfully aware that the current gov't is anti-energy and there is no alternative on the horizon - so they can expect a rough ride from the LIverals for the foreseeable future. I mean let's face it, until the Conservatives can shake off the heavy hand of the evangelical religious Trumpists and get back to being FISCALLY conservative rather than SOCIALLY conservative, they don't stand a chance of forming gov't any time soon.
On top of that, I'm sure ENB understands that it is currently fashionable to scream and yell about turning off the taps and shutting down all oil production in Canada BUT, the reality is that it generates a very large part of our GDP and pays for a LOT of the social programs the left loves to take credit for. So the environuts can protest all they want but they'll still need to get food from grocery stores and it doesn't arrive there courtesy of solar powered tractors, combines, threshers and long haul transport trucks. Unfortunately there are a lot of environuts in gov't at the moment.
There are a lot of variables on the field right now, so ENB is wise to play it safe.
