1) Ecuador - Federal court is moving in ANTICIPATION of major EXPLOITATION of deposits. 
Geologists tramping around the forest picking up grab samples or sampling streams don't make a mess. Courts have identified the Rio Magdalena (credit Canadian Wade Davis) as an artery that needs protection. These judges and lawmakers seem to be listening to good advice.
BUT

Cascabel and Llurimagua will likely go ahead BECAUSE ECUADORIANS

NEED currency, infrastructure, high-valued jobs, etc.

2) Mining Companies - UNDER THEIR BREATH are relieved. They now have more "rules of the road". Court rulings like this, and BINDING international agreements like the one recently signed by SolGold, 

ARE THE NEW FACE OF MINING !!!

Governments and mining companies are using these to prevent another EXPENSIVE MINING DISASTER like Northern Dynasty Mining.
