bid vs ask was 100:1, not 800:1.
So in a normal market where there would be no short selling, the price would have been going up. A bit like if there was 100 people wanting to buy your house; you wouldn't sell it to the lowest bidder, don't you? You would take the best offer. And among these 100 interested buyers at all the same price, one would inevitably bid higher, to beat the others.
But that doesn't change the story. Share price is shorted big time.
