RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Potential Canadian Travel Ban

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Potential Canadian Travel BanYour post is correct imo. Tommy does this nonsense on every board hoping to get shares cheaper but his credibility is zero. At 85% vaccinated why are people even still talking about unvaxxed people? I'm sure the blame game now will turn to schools and unboostered. I wonder what that will be called? A new name for almost everyone to start over again, anti boostered.
Ladislav3 wrote: Completely stupid. What kind of idiot requests more restrictions? We are along the lines of 85% vaccinated - what is the goal post now after which restrictions, if imposed now, will be lifted? We cannot lockdown every time that there is a case count increase.

I have to hope that reason will prevail but unfortunately that has not been the case for the entirety of the pandemic and I suspect it will continue to not be the case now. The media has pushed the narrative, supported by dubious statistics and politicians too scared of their own shadow. I have to hope that we live in a free society but if you would insist that we all be chained and shackled I would suggest that you first self-impose those restrictions on yourself.

Covid is here to stay forever. There is nothing we can do about it at this point, it is wide spread across Canada and globally that it can no longer be controlled. This is not "2 weeks to slow the spread" any longer (which, as you should know, was intended to result in a LONGER covid pandemic rather than a short and intense one). Covid will only disappear as did the Spanish flu, when a less serious strain takes hold and the public develops a natural immunity. Protect yourself with vaccination in the meantime, but in the understanding that there will always be some small portion of society that remains unvaccinated to their own detriment, whether due to ideological issues or in some cases due to immune disorders or heart conditions that prevent vaccination.

If you are scared lock yourself away and begone.

Tommy123 wrote: I care about long Covid more than deaths. I've contacted my MP to ask why we don't have more restrictions. He replied this morning. And said to stay tuned for an upcoming announcement. I would encourage everyone to also contact their public leaders and demand immediate action.
flamingogold wrote: And how many dying? Apparently 1 death so far in all of the US. Where are the reports of deaths in our nursing homes like during the first alpha wave, which was even less deadly than delta or omicron? None, because vaccinations work.

This is an over-reaction to cases. Vaccinations may not prevent infection but keeps you out of hospital and avoids death. This is a crises of the unvaccinated, so put restrictions on them, not everyone else.

Tommy123 wrote: Yes, but double vaxxing doesn't mean much with Omicron. Everyone is still getting it (eg. The NHL, Queen's Univeristy, etc).
flamingogold wrote: With mandatory mask mandates and double vaccination requirements for all passengers and crew, any local travel bans, if imposed, would be a fundamental failure by politicians. Lockdowns do not work and cause more in economic harm. Tighten the restrictions on the unvaccinated, not the other way around. If our politicians make the move, I will be buying with both fists.

Tommy123 wrote: The fact that anyone is even CONSIDERING travelling now is bananas.

CBC News has learned that high level conversations have been happening in Ottawa today about implementing more travel restrictions in response to rising COVID-19 case numbers.
