The Yukon Chamber of Commerce launched the website and began registration for Opportunities North 2018,the pre-eminent,annual northern business conference, which is expected to attract 200 to 300 delegates to Whitehorse in October. This very successful conference is a long-running partnership among the Yukon,Northwest Territories and Edmonton Chambers of Commerce, and hosting rotates between Whitehorse,Yellowknife and Edmonton.
This year’s conference theme is “Disruption”,speaking to both changes and the potential opportunities associated with today’s business landscape,in the Yukon, the North, and beyond. The conference will feature sessions on economic,environmental,social,geo-political and technological disruption as articulated by speakers from the business community including First Nations development corporations, and governmental speakers from across the North, the rest of Canada, the US,and beyond.
“We are looking forward to hosting business community representatives from the Yukon and our partner chambers in the NWT and Edmonton, and look forward to learning from one another during the two-and-half days of conference sessions.”said YCC Chair Stanley Noel. He added,“We are particularly excited to have keynote speaker Dominic Barton,Managing Partner Emeritus of McKinsey & Company, who will address disruption speaking on the future of capitalism and the role business leadership can play in creating long-term social and economic value.”
