I think you hit the nail right on the head but not just for AR, when i started investing there was no day trading or discount brokers you paid $125 +fees to buy and the same to sell so you couldn't afford to move in and out, now with the volatile tech stocks, IPO's etc. and dirt cheap trade fees folk look at things as a way to make a quick buck, mining stocks take patience and are high risk
